It Does Not Last

One Martial Arts
Be Part of Something Special

For 25 years, One Martial Arts has been a meaningful part of many adults’ lives. Our classes offer support, safety, and a sense of belonging within a truly special community.

Martial Arts Creates Balance

At One Martial Arts, learning self-defense is just the beginning. Adults thrive as they discover the confidence, empowerment, and mental balance that martial arts brings to every area of life.

Teaches Discipline and Focus

Consistent martial arts practice builds discipline and focus—essential skills that naturally carry over into every aspect of life.

A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY

You might come to One Martial Arts to get stronger or learn self-defense. But somewhere between building core strength, improving flexibility, and hitting your goals, you find something more—a clear mind, real confidence, and a community that feels like home.

EXERCISE IS HARD, MARTIAL ARTS MAKES IT WORTH IT

Even with a packed schedule full of work, family, and responsibilities, you do your best to stay active. But when the gym starts to feel repetitive, motivation fades.

Adult martial arts offers a more engaging path— optimal health, reduced stress, and keeping you mentally sharp, all within a supportive and social environment. It’s a meaningful change from the ordinary—and one your body and mind will thank you for.

FEEL CONFIDENT AND IN CONTROL IN TODAY’S WORLD

Many people feel vulnerable and wish that they had a way to defend themselves if they end up in a dangerous situation.

Martial arts classes build strength, confidence, flexibility, and agility while teaching basic but effective self-defense moves.

Studying martial arts can help you shake feelings of vulnerability and believe in your ability to defend yourself if needed.

INCREASED SELF-RESPECT AND DISCIPLINE

It’s common for adults to struggle with self-esteem as they deal with competitive work environments and overloaded to-do lists.

Adults who study martial arts learn to search within themselves for their best qualities. They learn to self-motivate and not to worry what others think of them.

Martial arts instruction encourages students to feel good about themselves as they master new techniques.

CHALLENGING, CALORIE-BURNING WORKOUTS

One of the keys to losing weight is finding a workout that you genuinely like doing.

Martial arts workouts are fun and challenging. They burn calories while also building muscles and ramping up your metabolism.

Regular martial arts workouts can help you lose weight steadily, especially when combined with a weekly fitness kickboxing class which is included with your program.

REDUCE STRESS AND ANXIETY THROUGH MARTIAL ARTS

All people need an outlet for their worry and anxiety – and martial arts classes provide it.

In the absence of such an outlet, you might carry anxiety inside of you and inadvertently take it out on other people.

Martial arts classes burn calories, release tension and anxiety, and help keep you on an even keel mentally and emotionally.

Brannon Beliso is among the most skilled and inspiring martial arts instructors I have come to know. I’ve been affiliated with Brannon’s organization, off and on, as a practitioner since the early 1990’s with satisfying results. If you are looking for structure, guidance and motivation, there isn’t a more suitable facility than One Martial Arts.

IMHO, One Martial Arts is about much more than martial arts. Brannon and his team truly encourage adults and children to learn, grow, and develop core life skills as part of the way One Martial Arts teaches martial arts. I highly recommend this establishment. Being part of the One Martial Arts experience helped make me a better person.

My family LOVES OMA San Francisco! The sifus and staff are amazingly patient, dedicated, and skilled. The classes are structured well with attention to life skills and themes, and their family-oriented events are fun community building!

Starting a martial art as an adult is intimidating. Especially early on, you see kids (teens in this case) who are a lot more experienced, and they’re generally faster to memorize the new patterns. But being an adult also provides me with a different perspective and more of a willingness to engage with the details and subtleties of the techniques we learn.

Happily, OMA is a great environment for that. Even in a mixed teen/adult class, they take the time to engage with my nerdy questions about not just “what” but “why.” I look forward to classes each week, knowing that I will have a chance to challenge myself and learn something new.

As someone who is generally fit but not naturally a great athlete, I appreciate the support and encouragement of the OMA staff. They foster a positive atmosphere to help everyone reach their own potential.

I’ll admit that some of the very early lessons can feel pretty slow as an adult; they’re designed so that even very young children can digest them. But even those are an important learning opportunity: They provide an opportunity to focus on establishing good habits with, for example, footwork early on.

I’m very happy I took a chance on starting lessons here. Having recently reached the black belt class, I’ve been excited to start learning the wider variety of techniques that come with that level.
