In the words of Dionne Warwick, “What the world needs now is love, sweet love. It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of. ” Hate fills the news and social media feeds.

It is fueled by fear and brings out the worst in people. It manifests itself in the unthinkable acts we see daily. The scary thing about this hate is that it often appears acceptable, even normalized.

It divides us and instills a dark sense of hopelessness. Instead of choosing to live from love, it becomes the first place to act from, resulting in nothing but hurt. Why do I share this somber observation?

Love is the yin to hate’s yang. It reaches out to us, inspiring us to live with courage. It is the hope that we all need to make this world a better place.

It takes great courage to live from love. At its best, love is blissful and beautiful, filling our hearts with everything good is possible. At its worst, love is heartbreaking, leaving people guarded and fearful of ever loving again.

Love conquers all. It gives us hope that good can win. I celebrate when a shy child discovers confidence in the martial arts or my own children dig deep and find grit to overcome life’s challenges.

As a teacher, husband, and parent, I am best when unconditional love guides my moral compass. I have witnessed the bliss of love when my wife said yes to my marriage proposal, and I saw all three of my children born. I have felt infinite love when I found my faith.

Martin Luther King stated that love is “ultimately the only answer to humankind’s problems. ” Today, this holds more truth than ever. I live from love unconditionally for every blessing God presents me with.

Whether a student seeks guidance, my family needs a kind word, or I am actively listening to support my team, I serve best when in a state of love. Love is the only way. It is the path to peace and happiness.

It makes every moment lived valuable and relevant. It is the answer to much of today’s suffering and despair. With love, all things are possible.

We are committed to this belief at One Martial Arts and will cultivate it through every thought, word, and action. My team and I will strive to earn your trust through these acts of love so that together, we can live our best lives.
